National People’s Party (NPP)’s Conrad Sangma and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)’ s Neiphiu Rio will take oath today as the Chief Ministers of Meghalaya and Nagaland respectively.
Meanwhile, In Tripura BJ’s Manik Saha will take oath as the Chief Minister of the alliance led by saffron-party on Thursday.
The oath taking ceremonies are expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Rio in Nagaland will lead an all-party government with no opposition even after the continuous talks between central government and the former rebels of NSCN (IM) to finalise the long awaited peace accord in the bordering state.
Recently, the NDPP-BJP alliance won 37 out of 60 assembly seats in Nagaland.
As a result, all the parties left extended their support to the Rio-led alliance.
Since the beginning of the election campaigning, the BJP and NDPP have featured Rio as their Chief Ministerial candidate.
On the other hand, in Meghalaya the NPP-led alliance has support of 45 MLAs and two of the BJP has claimed to form government in the state.
