The Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray finally agreed on seat-sharinv for the 48 Kok Sabha seats In Maharashtra on January 9 for the elections scheduled this year.
All the three parties are part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the State as well as part of the Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc. Tuesday’s meeting also saw the MVA allies agree on inducting Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi into the MVA and the INDIA bloc.
These three parties are part of both the Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc as well as the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
According to the sources, the parties had agreement on most of the seats but there are still varied opinions on seven-eight seats. However, one more meeting is expected to take place to resolve the differences on these seats.
“All of us, members of the MVA, have come out smiling. In these times of struggle, all of us are together. We will stay together and fight elections together,” said Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha member while talking to media.
“We discussed each and every seat and there is a broad consensus among all,” he said.
When he was questioned about the exact division of the seats, he said, “that number will come later”.
However, there is no official conformity but it is speculated that the Congress and Shiv Sena will be contesting on 18-20 seats each while, the NCP on 8-10 seats.
