In its first close to midnight meeting the Congress election committee on Thursday finalsed a list of candidates for six out of ten states for upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Following the meeting senior party leader KC Venugopal said, “a formal announcement will be made soon”.
“We finalised seats from Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Lakshadweep… The procedure is going on, formal announcement will be made very soon,” he said talking to media persons.
As per the latest information, Mr Gandhi will again fight from Wayanad in Kerala, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh and Jyotsna Mahant from Korba.
Union Minister Shashi Tharoor will also be one of the candidates to fight from Congress which is expected to fight on 16 out of 20 seats in Kerala.
Meanwhile, the party will not field any state ministers in Karnataka as most of them are not interested in the general elections.Shivakumar
However there is no information on Kalburgi, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s constituency. One of the candidates from state include party MP DK Suresh, brother of state party Chief DK Shivakumar.
