Sunday saw harsh criticism of Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu for calling Rahul Gandhi the “number one terrorist” by Congress General Secretary and Alapuzha MP K C Venugopal.
“The minimum qualification to become a minister in the Modi government, especially for spineless Congress turncoats, is to make bottom-tier personal attacks on Shri @RahulGandhi ji. Not only that, this also shows the level of hatred and disdain that these BJP leaders harbour in their hearts and how little they respect the opposition,” Venugopal said in a post on X.
“It is Mr. Bittu speaking, but these are words of the Prime Minister,” the Congress leader added.
Ravneet Singh Bittu’s attack on Rahul Gandhi for his words about Sikhs and his claim that he was “not an Indian” sparked a political scandal. Additionally, he declared that he was “the biggest enemy of the country” and that there ought to be a prize for his capture.
Ravneet Singh was referring to Rahul Gandhi’s comments during an event in Virgina in the US, where he had said, “The fight (in India) is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a turban…whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear a kada or go to the gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about, and it’s not just for Sikhs, but for all religions.”
Rahul Gandhi was been called “the number one terrorist of the country” by Ravneet Singh.
“Basic respect” between political parties and treating rivals as “ideological opponents, not personal enemies” are prerequisites for a democracy, according to Venugopal’s article on X.
Ravneet, who was a three-time MP from the Congress, left the party and joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
