The cities where the administration has imposed complete lockdown

Amid over 1 lakh Covid-19 cases being reported in India and the second wave of the infectious virus across the country, various state governments and district administrations have imposed severe restrictions to curb the spread of the fatal virus. The country is recording more than 1 lakh cases since last week which is highest spike since the pandemic begin.

Under these restrictions the states and districts are again bringing back night curfews, local restrictions and partial lockdowns with essential services available. These restrictions will lead the upcoming festivals of Ugadi, Navratri, Baisakhi and Gudi Padwa see close markets and people inside their homes. Amid this second wave and with cases increasing every day since last month the cities imposing restrictions in also increasing.

Here is the list of the cities going under lockdown :

Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and other cities of Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government had recently declared that all urban communities and regions in the state including Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune will stay under complete lockdown beginning from Friday evening till Monday morning as night check in time and end of the week lockdown will be joined together. The weekend lockdown will begin from 8 pm on Friday and will stay in power till 7 am on Monday. No activity other than the essential services will be allowed. BMC has released separate protocols for the city.

Raipur

The Chhattisgarh government has ordered a lockdown in the Raipur city from April 9 to April 19 in wake of the spike in COVID-19 cases. In wake of rising cases, the area has been declared as containment area and all its borders would be sealed today at 6 pm and will stay sealed till 6 am on April 19. All shops, including those selling alcohol, and commercial items will stay shut except the medical stores. Workplaces of Central government, state government, semi-government, just as private workplaces and banks will stay shut while those identified with telecom, rail route and air terminals will be permitted to work. All religious, social and the travel industry spots will stay shut and a wide range of public gatherings, religious, social and political projects will be restricted during this period,

All cities of Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday announced that his administration has chosen to force a total lockdown in every one of the metropolitan spaces of the state from 6 pm on Friday till 6 am on April 12 in wake of the disturbing increase in Covid cases in the country. There were already Sunday lockdowns in many cities of Madhya Pradesh but now there will be strict restrictions this weekend in all urban cities of the state.

Cities which underwent complete lockdown earlier

In the midst of the worrying spike in Covid cases in the state of Chhattisgarh, the district administration of state’s Durg had imposed a complete in the starting of this month. Durg Collector Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, said that the lockdown will be forced in the area from April 6 to April 14. During that period, all activities, apart from those in essential services, will stay restricted in the city.

Cities where there is night curfew

Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh, Ghaziabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Odisha’s Sundergarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Jaipur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Khargone, Ratlam, Betul are as of now under night curfew. Bengaluru will likewise go under a corona curfew in time from April 10 alongside the other 6 areas of Karnataka, including Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburgi, Bidar, Tumkurum, Udupi and Manipal.
