Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur and Kanker Witness Deadly Clashes, 30 Maoists and 1 Security Personnel Killed

According to officials on Thursday, at least 30 Maoists were slain in two different clashes in Chhattisgarh. A combined squad of the state police’s BSF and DRG officers shot and killed four Maoists in Kanker regions, while 26 were slain in the Bijapur district. According to them, a police jawan was also killed in the Bijapur encounter.

An anti-Maoist operation had involved the deployment of a joint squad under the Gangalur police station in the border regions of Dantewada and Bijapur districts. There are still fights going on and search efforts to locate other bodies nearby. At the scene of the conflict, a sizable cache of guns and ammunition was discovered in addition to the Maoists’ dead.

Union home minister Amit Shah reacted to the encounter in a post on X and said, “Today our soldiers have achieved another major success in the direction of ‘Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’. 22 Naxalites were killed in 2 separate operations of our security forces in Bijapur and Kanker of Chhattisgarh.” He added, “The Modi government is moving forward with a ruthless approach against Naxalites and is adopting a zero tolerance policy against those Naxalites who are not surrendering despite all the facilities ranging from surrender to inclusion. The country is going to be Naxal-free before 31 March next year.”

In a clash in Bijapur on February 9, 31 Maoists and two security guards were slain in the National Park’s jungles. During the operations in February, security authorities recovered explosives and arrested 18 Naxalites. In 2025, about 81 Maoists had lost their lives.
