On New Year’s Eve, the Tamil Nadu police have stopped automobile movement on Chennai highways. On January 1, the restriction will be in effect from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.
The car limitation comes on top of the restrictions established on December 28 that prohibit celebrations in public locations, including beaches.
Citizens are asked to return home before 12 a.m. on December 31. Under this provision, only essential and emergency services are exempt.
Vehicles are not allowed to be parked near the beach. Vehicle movement on the beach roads will be restricted beginning at 9 p.m. on December 31.
Approximately 10,000 police officers will be on patrol in the city, looking for any violations.
