CBFC Suggests PM Narendra Modi’s Quote Be Added to Sitaare Zameen Par Intro

Just a few days after Sitaare Zameen Par was approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts, reports are now saying that the board actually asked the filmmakers to make some additions. One of them was including a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi right after the opening disclaimer.

According to reports, the film produced by Aamir Khan’s own company, was stuck for a while because of some suggestions from the Censor Board that Aamir wasn’t happy with. He didn’t agree with the cuts recommended by the Examining Committee, so the Revising Committee, led by theatre expert Waman Kendre, watched the film and stepped in.

The Revising Committee then asked for a few more changes. For example, they wanted the term “Michael Jackson” swapped with “Lovebirds,” and “Business Woman” changed to “Business Person.” They also requested the removal of a shot showing the word “kamal.” Once these edits were made, the film was granted a U/A 13+ rating.

Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is all set to release this Friday, June 20. When it comes to box office buzz, the film is already off to a solid start. It’s made Rs 1.03 crore in advance bookings without even blocking seats yet. According to trade site Sacnilk, over 39,000 tickets have already been sold across India for day one. Also starring Genelia Deshmukh, the film is being described as a spiritual follow-up to Aamir Khan’s 2007 directorial debut Taare Zameen Par.
