Canada Issues Advisory For Its Citizens, Urges For ‘High Degree Of Caution’

Amid the growing tensions between India and Canada over the alleged killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Canadian government has issued an advisory for its citizens residing in India.

This comes after the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged Indian government of being involved in the killing of the Khalistani terrorist.

In the advisory, the Canadian government urged its people living in India to be highly cautious all the time.

“Exercise a high degree of caution in India due to the threat of terrorist attacks throughout the country,” read the advisory.

“There are certain safety and security concerns or the situation could change quickly. Be very cautious at all times, monitor local media and follow the instructions of local authorities,” it further read.

The advisory even asked its citizens to not visit India until it’s very important. “Your safety and security could be at risk. You should think about your need to travel to this country, territory or region based on family or business requirements, knowledge of Or familiarity with the region, and other factors. If you are already there, think about whether you really need to be there. If you do not need to be there, you should think about leaving,” the advisory also mentioned.

For the citizens already residing in India, the advisory suggested to “think about leaving the country if it is safe to do so”.

Apart from this, the advisory even asked to specially avoid travelling to Jammu and Kashmir citing it’s “unpredictable security situation”. It said, “there is a threat of terrorism, militancy, civil unrest and kidnapping. This advisory excludes travelling to or within the Union Territory of Ladakh”.
