According to News agency, Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra stated on Sunday that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or CAA, is anticipated to have a final draught ready by March 30 of the next year.
The BJP MP from the Kheri constituency in Uttar Pradesh, speaking to a group of Matua people in Thakurnagar, North 24 Parganas district, stated that no one can take away a community’s right to citizenship. He also mentioned that the Act, which was approved by the Parliament in December 2019, guaranteed that the community’s members had become citizens of this nation.
“You will get the full rights of citizenship. In the absence of proper documents, no action can be initiated against you. This we have included in the Act,” the minister told the gathering. Santanu Thakur, the Bongaon BJP MP and Minister of State for Shipping, accompanied him to the function.
“The process to roll out CAA has gained momentum in the last couple of years… some issues are being sorted out. Nobody can snatch citizenship rights from the Matuas. By March next year, the final draft of the CAA is expected to be ready for coming into force,” news agency quoted the minister as saying amid thundering applause.
Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians who join India before December 31, 2014, from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, are intended to be granted Indian citizenship by the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
Santanu Sen, a TMC Rajya Sabha MP, stated that the Trinamool Congress has protected the rights of Matuas as citizens of the nation and that the saffron party only pays attention to Matuas and the CAA during election seasons. West Bengal will never be able to implement CAA.
The Matuas and others are starting to see through the BJP’s phoney statements. The news agency quoted him as adding that in the upcoming elections, the saffron party will be rejected by all.
