Actor Suniel Shetty, Athiya’s father, made a hint that sparked pregnancy suspicions about his daughter. On a recent episode of Dance Deewane, where he judges with Madhuri Dixit, Suniel talked about what it means to become a “nana” or grandfather.
Suniel Shetty said, “Yes, next season when I come (On Dance Deewane), I will be walking on the stage like a nana,” in response to Bharti Singh, the host of the reality show, making fun of him for being a “nana.”
Rumours that Athiya may be expecting her first child with Rahul have been fueled by his remark. Athiya and Rahul have not responded to the speculations of her pregnancy.
In January, Athiya and KL Rahul commemorated their first wedding anniversary. In honour of the event, they released a romantic film that included some of their favourite scenes from their idyllic wedding as well as some unguarded moments from their married life. In a shared Instagram post, they said, “Finding you was like coming home.”
Close friends and family attended the couple’s intimate wedding on January 23, 2023, which took place at her father Suniel Shetty’s property in Khandala.
In an interview with India Today last year, Suniel discussed his son-in-law KL Rahul. When asked about his daughter and son-in-law, the actor referred to himself as KL Rahul’s father.
He said, “I said father, I don’t know the role of father-in-law; I was his fan today there is a relationship, but I loved Rahul, like I do a lot of young talent. I am someone who has always gone to watch talents perform, even in my prime as an actor. I would go to Wankhede to watch young people play. When I saw Rahul play, I thought this kid was good, and then he was from my own backyard; he is from Mangalore. I am someone who is very proud of anything that children from small towns achieve, so I was a fan, and today I am a father. I know him as much as he knows himself, every move of his.”
