The Budget Session of Parliament will start today with President Ram Nath Kevin’s address to the joint sitting of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Then the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey of 2021-2022.
The Union Budget will be presented on Tuesday by the Finance Minister.
The first part of the session will take place between January 31 and February 11. Following this, it will enter the recess to look into the budgetary allocation of different departments.
The first part of the session will have 10 sittings and 19 sitting in the second.
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the sittings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will have different timing. The members will be seated in both the houses to maintain social distancing. The timing for Rajya Sabha sitting will be from 10 am to 3 pm while, the timing for Lok Sabha will bs from 4 pm to 9 pm.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu will hold a meeting with the floor leaders of different political parties to make sure that the session goes on smoothly.
