Extending support for Bharat Bandh political parties Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress have made their announcement for the support to various bodies calling for Bharat Bandh over Supreme Court’s recent judgement on Scheduled Caste (SC) reservations.
Bodies of Dalit and Adivasi have demanded stronger protection and representation for the marginalized communities with their call for Bharat Bandh today.
The National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Organizations (NACDAOR) has alleged that the top court’s recent verdict undermines the earlier ruling in the Sawhney case that led to the formation of a framework for reservations in India.
Later on, the Bahujan Samaj Party also extended its support to Bharat Bandh and has even accused both BJP and Congress for attempting to end reservation. The party even stressed upon the necessity for reservation.
Along with this, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has urged all its leaders, district coordinators, district presidents and secretaries for their active participant in the 14-hour nationwide strike.
“The recent verdict given by the Supreme Court on the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe reservations would prove to be an obstacle in the path of upliftment and strengthening of the SC/ST classes,” said Vinod Kumar Pandey, JMM general secretary in a statement.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal has also called for solidarity in the strike like Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
Meanwhile, the state Congress spokesman Rakesh Sinha also extended support for the strike on party’s behalf.
