In the poll bound Karanataka, BJP on Tuesday issued its first list of 189 candidates who will be contesting in the upcoming state assembly elections. Voting for the assembly will take place on May 10, while the counting will be on May 13.
52 out the proposed 189 candidates will be new faces, said the party announcing the list.
As told by BJP’s National General Secretary Arun Singh, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be fighting from Shiggaon constituency.
State Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan CN will be contesting from Mallwshwaram seat, while state Health Mini Dr Sudhakar K will represent the Chikkaballapur constituency. Another leader R Ashoka will however represent two seats- Kanakapur and Padmanabhanagar.
V Somanna will stand against Congresa leader Siddaramaiah from Varuna and Chamarananagar seats and BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi will represent the Chikmagalur seat.
Meanwhile, the BJP has even alloted its tickets to various officials including 1 retired IAS and IPS officers, 9 doctors, 5 advocates, 8 women, 3 academicians, 8 social activists and 3 retired government employees.
The filing of nomination will be taking place between 13 April and 20 April.
Having set the target of winning a landslide victory in Karnataka, BJP has given itself a target of getting at least 150 out of total 224 seats in the assembly elections.
