Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, was seen with the chief minister of Delhi on Wednesday at the Lucknow airport, following his inappropriate behaviour with Swati Maliwal a few days before.
The Chief Minister was also seen meeting Sanjay Singh, the head of the Aam Aadmi Party, Kejriwal.
Arvind Kejriwal and Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), together spoke at a news conference in Lucknow on Thursday.
Shehzad Poonawalla of the BJP, meanwhile, criticised Arvind Kejriwal for his silence about the Swati Maliwal assault case and for going out with Bibhav Kumar.
“72 hours No FIR on Bibhav Kumar instead Kejriwal is protecting him ! Roaming around with him.. It is clear- attack on Swati Maliwal was done at behest of Kejriwal himself Sheesh Mahal is Apradh Mahal & just like Draupadi cheerharan,” (sic) he wrote on X.
Citing Singh’s statement that Bibhav Kumar, ‘misbehaved’ with Maliwal and Kejriwal directed stern action on the matter, BJP’s Tajinder Bagga wrote on X, “Sanjay Singh ji was saying that you will take strict action against Bibhav but you started making him tour the whole country.”
Swati Maliwal, the Rajya Sabha MP for the AAP, said on Monday that she was “assaulted” at the Chief Minister’s official residence by a member of Arvind Kejriwal’s personal staff.
Subsequently, the police declared that they had not received an official complaint in this respect from Maliwal.
They claimed to have received a PCR call at 9:34 a.m. from a woman reporting that the Chief Minister of Delhi’s home had been the scene of an assault.
“MP Madam eventually made her way to the police station. But before leaving, she said she will file a complaint later’, MK Meena, the deputy commissioner of police for the north, told reporters.
Another officer claimed that Maliwal was the person on the other end of the conversation and that the call originated from her mobile number.
