Instead of implementing the Agnipath scheme, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Saturday that those youngsters who had cleared physical tests in the previous two years should be given the opportunity to sit for the written exam for joining the Army.
The CM reaffirmed his call for the scheme’s cancellation in a statement issued here. He thought it was absurd that thousands of young people had passed the physical test for the armed forces in the previous two years but had not been called for the written exam.
“This is a tremendous injustice to the kids who wish to serve their homeland by joining the Army,” the CM continued. Mann went on to say that the foolish action has already sparked outrage across the country, with youths from all walks of life opposing the idea.
