The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is expected to arrest Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after conducting raids at his premises today in alleged Delhi liquor policy.
This comes after Mr. Kejriwal skipped multiple summons by the investigating agency. The Aam Aadmi Party sources said the Delhi Police has blocked the roads leading to the Chief Minister’s residence.
This time, it was the third notice issued to the Delhi Chief Minister following two summons on November 2 and December 21 after he refused to appear.
As per the sources in ED, lawyers have been examining Mr. Kejriwal’s responses following which fresh summons will be sent to him.
The AAP supremo may be arrested once the investigating agency finishes raids at his promises, said the party leaders.
“News coming in that ED is going to raid @ArvindKejriwal’s residence tmrw morning. Arrest likely,” said Delhi minister and senior party leader Atishi on X handle.
Similar tweets were seen on the X handles of other senior party leaders such as Jasmine Shah, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Sandeep Pathak.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has alleged that the summons are politically ‘motivated’ and it is also not clear whether he is being called as a witness or a suspect in the case.
The Aam Aadmi Party has also alleged that the whole idea is to stop the AAP leader from campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled later this year.
