Another Extension To Lockdown In Delhi ?

According to the sources the Delhi government may extend the weekly lockdown by at least a week as the cases are continue on rising. The lockdown might be ordered by Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

Delhi was already under lockdown since last week that was scheduled to get over Monday morning as the Hospitals were lack of Covid resources due to sudden spurt in cases. The Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at that time had said that that a one week lockdown will let the authority arrange Covid resources like beds, medicines, oxygen etc.

“If we don’t impose a lockdown now, we might face a bigger calamity. The government will take full care of you. We took this tough decision taking the situation into consideration,” the chief minister had said while imposing a lockdown last week.

The sudden rise in cases reported a positivity rate of 32.27 per that collapsed the health infrastructure in the national capital.

Struggling with the shortage of oxygen, beds some hospitals in Delhi even reached Delhi High Court for help.

“There is big human tragedy coming in next few minutes in our hospital. We have already lost 25 lives. We are gasping for oxygen. We have our Doctors before you. Please save lives. Please,” said a plea filed Jaipur Golden Hospital, where 25 patients have lost their lives due to shortage of oxygen.

Delhi has become the worst hit city in the country since last week with its considered high surge in cases. The city on Saturday reported it’s highest death toll of 357 in a day with 24,000 fresh cases.

According to state administration, with the last reported surge, Delhi now has a cumulative tally of 10 lakh cases with 13,898 fatalities so far.

The last reported surge also took the active caseload in the national capital to 1 lakh mark on Saturday.
