The Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh who is alleged of corruption charges by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on Wednesday wrote a letter to the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. In the letter Deshmukh asked the chief minister to investigate the corruption charges levelled against him.
Tweeting in Marathi, the home minister shared his letter on his twitter handle. “I have asked the Chief Minister to inquire into the allegations made against me by (former Police Commissioner of Mumbai) Param Bir Singh to bring out the truth,” he said in a tweet.
“If the Chief Minister inquires the matter, I would welcome it. Satyamev Jayate,” added the home minister.
In his allegations Param Bir Singh has alleged Mr Singh of involving in “malpractices” and for asking police officials including arrested police official Sachin Waze to collect Rs 100 crore every month.
Soon after this, a group of BJP leaders led by the former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis went to state Governor and urged him to get a report on Thackeray’s response over the issue.
Mr Fadnavis also said, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has lost all his moral standard to remain in power.
“We requested the Governor to ask for a report from the Chief Minister on various issues related to governance and COVID-19 in the state. We also requested him to intervene in corruption-related issues,” said another BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar.
On Tuesday Mr Fadnavis had also handed over some alleged evidences on the transfer racket of IPS and non-IPS officers from Maharashtra Police to the Union Home Secretary, and for this he had also asked for time to meet the Home Secretary for giving all the secret data of call records and documents relating to the alleged transfer racket.
He had also asked for the resignation of the Home Minister Anil Deshmukh after the Police Commissioner levelled serious charges against Deshmukh.
