For her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt most recently received the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) award. The actress received numerous awards for her work in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. The actress, however, was unable to make a statement at the illustrious awards ceremony. According to rumours, Alia chose to skip IIFA 2023 due to the poor health of her maternal grandfather Narendra Razdan. Alia apologised and showed thanks the day after collecting the prize.

Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram story and wrote, “Thank you so much IIFA. Sorry, I couldn’t be there in person to receive the award. A special thank you to the audience for your constant support. This brings me and the enjoy team so much joy! (sic).”

Sharing an update about Alia’s grandfather, Narendra Razdan’s health, a source told, “Mr. Narendra Razdan is Soni Razdan’s father and Alia’s grandfather. He has been in the Breach Candy hospital for quite some time now. He had a lung infection which got worse. In the morning, the family got a distress call that the doctors wanted to shift him to the ICU. There was a decision taken not to take him to the ICU, but to make him comfortable within the room. He’s 95 and as of now he’s in the sunset hours. Alia turned back from the airport because she didn’t want to be there at the award function while her grandfather was going through a very vulnerable time.”

With her husband Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt most recently appeared in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The actress’s upcoming film appearance will be in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, directed by Karan Johar. For the movie, she and Ranveer Singh, her co-star from Gully Boy, reconnected. The film, supported by KJo’s Dharma Productions, will premiere on July 28, 2023.
