Alia Bhatt Defines Sustainable Fashion By Wearing Her Wedding Saree At National Film Awards

When Alia Bhatt re-wore her bridal saree to the National Film Awards ceremony on October 17 in New Delhi, she made a powerful statement about sustainable design.

For her performance in “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” the actress received the Best Actress honor. The actress changed into one of her most precious costume pieces—her bridal saree—to accept the honor. The actress explained the sartorial choice in a recent Instagram post.

“A special day calls for a special outfit. And sometimes, that outfit is already right there. What’s special once can be special again. And again…,” Alia wrote while urging her fans to “repeat, reuse and rewear” their clothes.

Alia made sure to style her modern ivory Sabyasachi wedding saree uniquely when she wore it to the National Film Awards. She pulled back her hair and wrapped it in a sloppy ponytail with a floral headband. The actress also went bold with her makeup as she sported kohl-rimmed eyes, defined brows and a red bindi.

Even in terms of jewelry, her elegant pearl choker and exquisite ear studs stood out.

Ami Patel, Alia’s personal stylist, praised the actress for modeling how to update classic outfits.

Ami stated, “The best example you can set for the world to repeat their looks with a fresh take and look as breathtaking as ever is to wear your own wedding sari for your first National Award.”

The stylist also stated how Gangubai’s well-known white sarees were matched by her attire for the important occasion.

Who said you couldn’t wear your wedding attire again? Just now, Alia Bhatt dispelled that misunderstanding.
