With Centre asking all the states and UTs to take necessary precautions amid the surge in Covid-19 cases, many states have banned a public celebration for Holi 2021. As from the next week multiple festivals are lined up and to control the spread of the disease the states and UTs have been asked to be more aware during the upcoming festive season.
However, the Home Ministry has made it clear that there will be no lockdown and travelling will also be not restricted. But the state and district administrations would be responsible for controlling the spread and for that purpose they can also impose local lockdowns, said the Home Ministry.
Many states including Delhi, Gujarat, Odisha have banned public celebration of the festivals of Holi and Navaratri while some states have asked people to strictly follow the guidelines.
Here is how various regions have prepared themselves for this festive season :
Delhi
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday directly banned the public celebration of the festivals like Holi, Navaratri, Shab-e-barat etc.
Mumbai
In Mumbai the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a complete ban on all public, community and private festivities on Holi and Rangpanchmi.
Odisha
The state has banned any religious or cultural gathering on Holi but has allowed people to celebrate Holi in their houses and may also visit temples with adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.
Bihar
The Chief Minister has urged people to avoid gathering on Holi but has not ordered any ban.
Chandigarh
The Chandigarh administration has ordered for no gatherings on Holi and at any place like Hotels, clubs etc.
Uttar Pradesh
There is no ban has yet announced but no religious processions are allowed without permission. The senior citizens having underlying diseases and the children below the age of 10 are strictly restricted from being part of any festival celebration.
Gujarat
Gujarat administration has not allowed Holi celebration but has allowed for Holika Dahan without gathering.
