6 Dead, Several Injured in Horrific Firecracker Factory Explosion in Sivakasi

An explosion at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu early Tuesday morning has claimed six lives and left several others injured. The blast occurred at the factory located in Chinna Kamanpatti village, near Sivakasi, in Virudhunagar district.

Sources report that the explosion sparked a massive fire, with thick black smoke rising from the site. The air was filled with the sound of firecrackers continuously going off inside the factory. At this time, the exact cause of the explosion remains unclear.

Those injured were quickly transported to a nearby hospital, while fire and emergency services rushed to the scene to control the situation.

Sivakasi, known as the “Fireworks Capital of India,” is also a significant hub for the match and printing industries. The surrounding Virudhunagar district has a strong presence of these industries, which are vital to the local economy.

This deadly explosion comes just one day after a reactor blast in a pharmaceutical plant in Telangana. On Monday morning, the blast in Sangareddy district killed 34 people and caused severe damage to nearby structures. Initially, 10 deaths were reported, but that number increased as rescue workers cleared the rubble.
