Mika Singh didn’t hold back his anger after Diljit Dosanjh released Sardaar Ji 3 overseas, especially since the film features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir and comes just weeks after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
In a pointed Instagram Story, Mika didn’t mention Diljit by name but shared a photo collage of the two of them, making it pretty obvious who he was talking about. He even referred to Diljit as a “fake singer.” Mika wrote, “Nation comes first. We all know how tense things are between India and Pakistan right now, and yet some people continue to act carelessly.”
He added that artists and producers should think twice before working with Pakistani actors, especially during sensitive times like this when national emotions are running high. He also brought up the unreleased film Abir Gulaal, which starred Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, saying, “That movie was stopped because of the India-Pakistan situation and still, some people don’t seem to get it.”
What really got under Mika’s skin was the fact that, after doing a hugely successful Indian tour with thousands of fans buying tickets, Diljit went quiet and dropped the film overseas instead. “He just vanished. Fans feel let down and betrayed,” Mika wrote. Diljit has stayed silent so far and hasn’t responded to the criticism.
Interestingly, the teaser for Sardaar Ji 3 came out months ago in India and didn’t show Hania Aamir at all. Her role was only revealed when the full trailer dropped on June 22. The trailer has now been geo-blocked in India following the terror attack and rising tensions with Pakistan.
Due to the current climate, the film body has also enforced a ban on Pakistani artists working in Indian projects. Fawad Khan’s Hindi comeback film still hasn’t seen a release because of this. Instead of risking backlash, the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 decided to skip the Indian release altogether and go for an international release on June 27, something that clearly didn’t sit well with Mika Singh.
