A wave of sorrow swept across the Bollywood community on Thursday after news broke of the tragic Air India crash near Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating as Flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London, went down shortly after takeoff, carrying 242 people. The aircraft reportedly lost radar contact at an altitude of just 625 feet before rapidly descending and crashing close to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
From veteran actors to the younger stars of the industry, many took to their social media platforms to express their shock and grief over the accident.
Alia Bhatt shared her sorrow on Instagram Stories, writing: “This is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the passengers and their loved ones. Sending strength and prayers to everyone affected.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar also reacted on his Instagram Stories, saying: “Such tragic news about the Air India flight. We’re still hearing updates about the casualties and survivors. My heart goes out to the families enduring this loss.”
Actor Vijay posted a video of the crash on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “I’m stunned by the news of the Ahmedabad-London Air India flight crash. Hoping and praying that there are survivors and that the crew is safe.”
‘Pushpa 2’ star Allu Arjun added his voice to the tributes: “Absolutely shattered by the crash in Ahmedabad. My prayers are with the victims and their families. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.”
Sunny Deol, known for his role in Gadar 2, tweeted: “Deeply shaken by the news of the Air India crash. I’m praying for survivors and hoping they receive the care they need. Heartfelt condolences to all those who’ve lost their loved ones.”

Meanwhile, Air India released a brief statement: “Flight AI171, which was scheduled to operate from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an incident on 12 June 2025. We are currently working to gather more information and will provide updates as soon as they are available through our official website and social media handles.”
