At a celebratory rally honoring the Indian cricket team’s triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy, which was held close to Jama Masjid in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, fighting broke out.
Some locals began hurling stones at a demonstration commemorating India’s victory as it passed through the Jama Masjid neighborhood in Mhow. Conflicts between the two groups resulted from this. A number of cars were damaged, and criminals burned two cars and two stores. Locals said that as the victory rally got closer to the Jama Masjid area, a sizable crowd started hurling stones at them, causing mayhem and forcing them to get off their motorcycles and run.
In order to maintain order after the violence, a sizable police force from both Indore city and rural areas was sent to the region. Although there are army forces in Mhow as well, there was no need for a separate army deployment because the area is an army cantonment and military units are constantly stationed there.
“Tension occurred between the two sides here, and some incidents of violence have taken place. The incident took place after the victory of team India. The incident occurred over firecrackers. The situation is completely under control now. I would like to tell everyone that I do not believe in any type of fake news. Adequate force is here and we are patrolling the area. The incident will be investigated, and all the necessary action will be taken in this regard. Accordingly, the people involved will be punished. Now there is news of three people getting injured here. Further investigation is underway,” Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal said on Mhow incident.
When questioned, Ashish Singh, the collector for Indore, stated that the situation was under control and that troops had been sent to the region. “How it happened will be ascertained later. As of now, the situation is under control,” he said.
