Delhi Government Announces Rs 2,500 Monthly Aid for Women Under CM Rekha Gupta’s Leadership

Rekha Gupta, the chief minister of Delhi, announced on Saturday that the Rs 5,100 crore budget for the scheme’s execution has been approved by the Delhi cabinet, which she leads. Speaking about the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, Gupta stated that a committee under her direction has been established to carry out the welfare program, which aims to give impoverished women Rs 2,500 per month in cash help.

While addressing a press conference, the Delhi CM said, “We had a cabinet meeting earlier in the day, and the cabinet has put its stamp of approval on the promise we (the ruling BJP) had made in our (poll) manifesto. It has approved the scheme to support poor women in Delhi.”

According to Gupta, a committee led by her has been established to supervise the scheme’s execution. “A dedicated web portal will be launched for registrations under the scheme,” she added, adding that senior ministers Ashish Sood, Parvesh Verma, and Kapil Mishra will also be on the committee.

The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) offer of Rs 2,100 per month was surpassed by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rs 2,500 per month pledge, which was a major component of the party’s campaign for the February Delhi Assembly elections. The tactic was successful as the saffron party won 48 of the 70 seats and regained power in Delhi after a more than 26-year hiatus.

After winning 48 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections last month, the BJP swept back to power in the nation’s capital after a 27-year hiatus. The Congress did not open its account, and the AAP was whittled down to 22 seats.
