All 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly were peacefully polled on February 5th, marking the end of the elections. On Saturday, February 8, the final results will be revealed. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to constitute the next government in the nation’s capital, according to several exit polls that have forecast its win.
For the first time, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has responded to the exit poll estimates, making grave accusations against them. The former chief minister of Delhi also indirectly attacked the BJP on X, saying it was trying to recruit AAP candidates to join the party. Senior party leader Sanjay Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi both reaffirmed Kejriwal’s assertions.
In response to Kejriwal’s accusations, Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva scolded AAP leader Sanjay Singh, urging him to take back his accusations against the party and apologize. If not, he must be prepared to face legal consequences, said Sachdeva. “Sanjay Singh should remember that their Chief Minister, Ms. Atishi Marlena, is out on bail in a similar case involving false allegations of offering money to legislators. Sanjay Singh’s accusation that the BJP is trying to lure AAP’s MLA candidates with inducements is a result of his desperation,” Sachdeva added.
It should be noted that the majority of exit polls anticipated that the BJP will defeat the ruling AAP in the Delhi assembly elections, while the Congress would not see any notable gains. Axis My India and CNX’s exit polls on Thursday also gave the BJP a sizable advantage.
According to data from the Election Commission’s Voter Turnout App, over 60% of the electorate participated in Wednesday’s elections in Delhi. Voting in each of the 70 constituencies started at 7 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m. In Delhi, there are around 1.56 crore eligible voters. The Southeast district had the lowest turnout, at 56.16 percent, while the Northeast district had the most, at 66.25 percent. Mustafabad recorded the greatest turnout of any constituency at 69 percent, while Mehrauli had the lowest at 53.04 percent. Voter turnout is scheduled for February 8.
