Budget Session Begins with Economic Survey Presentation by Nirmala Sitharaman

President Droupadi Murmu addressed the joint sitting of the two Houses to kick off today’s budget session of the Parliament. The Economic Survey was then tabulated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

President Murmu addressed the joint Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha session to begin the Budget Session. Following President Murmu’s speech, the Economic Survey 2024–25 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.The report is an official evaluation of the economy’s performance during the current fiscal year and was created by a team under the direction of Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran.Along with outlining the country’s problems, the Economic Survey offers a reform and expansion path. In addition to the financial business for the budget session, the administration has named 16 bills, including the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.

The Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, the Railways (Amendment) Bill, the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, the Protection of Interests in Aircraft Objects Bill, and the Immigration and Foreigners Bill are some of the other important bills scheduled for the session.With changes to income tax bands anticipated, Ms. Sitharaman will present the first complete budget of the Modi 3.0 administration on Saturday.Before taking a break to review the budget plans, the first portion of the budget session will end on February 13. The meeting will meet again on March 10 and run through April 4. The entire Budget Session will have 27 sittings.While Lok Sabha has provisionally allotted two days (February 3-4) for discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, Rajya Sabha has earmarked three days for the debate.
