The Army reported that three terrorists were eliminated on Thursday as part of a continuing counter-infiltration operation in the North Kashmiri region of Kupwara, specifically in the Machil and Tangdhar areas.
“Based on intelligence inputs regarding likely infiltration bids, a Joint anti-infiltration Operation was launched by IndianArmy & jammu kashmir police on the intervening night of 28-29 Aug 24 in general area Tangdhar, Kupwara,” Army said on official handle X.
It’s likely that one terrorist was eliminated. The procedure is now underway.
Army stated that on the intervening night of August 28–29, 24 in the general vicinity of Machhal, Kupwara, a Joint Operation was initiated by Indian Army & Jammu Kashmir police in response to intelligence inputs regarding possible infiltration bids.
“Suspicious movement was observed in bad weather and was engaged with effective firing by own troops; two terrorists are likely to have been neutralised,” post read.
They further added that the operation is siill in progress.
Operations were initiated late on Wednesday evening in Tad village at Kushal post in Tangdhar and at Kumkadi post in the Machil sector following the observation of suspicious terrorist movements. The search is still being conducted at both locations, but it is being hampered by the poor weather and persistent rain.
