Monday morning, there was a rush at Baba Siddhanth Temple in the Jehanabad region of Bihar that resulted in seven pilgrim deaths and nine injuries. Officials reported that there were two men and five women among the victims.
For medical attention, the injured were taken to the hospitals in Jehanabad and Makhdumpur.
The Jehanabad District Magistrate, Alankrita Pandey, declared that everything was under control.
Speaking with news agency, she said, “At least seven people died and nine injured in a stampede at Baba Siddhnath Temple in Makhdumpur of Jehanabad district. We are monitoring everything and now the situation is under control.”
The Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate paid a visit to the scene shortly after the stampede became public knowledge.
“DM and SP visited the spot, and they are taking stock of the situation… A total of seven people have died… We are meeting and inquiring about the family members (of the people dead and injured). We are trying to identify the people who have died; after this, we will send the bodies for a post-mortem,” Jehanabad Station House Officer Divakar Kumar Vishwakarma told news agency.
Calling it a “sad” incident, Jehanabad’s Sub-Divisional Officer Vikas Kumar stated, “It is a sad incident…All the arrangements were tight, we are taking stock of the situation and then will further inform you about this…”
Over 120 people died in a stampede that occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras earlier on July 2. The rush happened at a religious gathering under the direction of Baba Narayan Hari.
