Air Force Aircraft Carrying 45 Dead Bodies Expected To Land In Kerala At 11 AM

A special Air Force aircraft carrying dead bodies of 45 Indians who died in massive fire that broke out two days ago in Kuwait has left the country. The aircraft is expected to reach Kerala by 11 am today and will then depart to Delhi.

Junior Minister in foreign ministry Gonda MP Kirti Vardhan is also returning in the same aircraft as he went to Kuwait soon after the incident took place.

Indian embassy to Kuwait said, “a special IAF aircraft carrying mortal remains of 45 Indian victims in the fire incident in Kuwait has taken off for Kochi. MoS @KVSinghMPGonda, who coordinated with Kuwaiti authorities ensuring swift repatriation, is onboard the aircraft”.

Ambulances have been queued at the Cochin airport where the plane is expected to land.

A massive fire was broke out a six-storey building in Kuwait’s Mangaf city on Wednesday that killed around 48 people. Out of the total 176 Indian workforce at a housing facility, 45 were dead while, 33 are under treatment, said the embassy.

The deceased are from many states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Karanataka, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar and Haryana.

Soon after the tragic incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called a high-level meeting during which he expressed condolences and announced a compensation of ₹ 2 lakh to each of those families who lost their dear ones.
