9 Pilgrims Die in J&K Bus Accident Amid Terrorist Ambush

This evening in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi, a bus full of pilgrims was attacked by terrorists and slid down a canyon, resulting in nine fatalities and thirty-three injuries.

The bus was attacked while it was travelling to the Shiv Khori cave temple. The bus plunged into a ravine when the attackers started shooting.

According to Vishesh Mahajan, the Reasi district magistrate, “nine pilgrims have died and 33 are injured.”

According to Reasi’s Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma, the driver lost control of the bus during the gunfire and plummeted into the ravine, as reported by a news source.

“Initial reports suggest that terrorists fired upon the passenger bus… Due to the firing, the bus driver lost balance of the bus and it fell into the gorge. Thirty-three people were injured in the incident. The rescue operation has been completed. The identities of the passengers have not been confirmed yet. They are not locals. Shiv Khori shrine was secured and area domination was done,” she said.

Images from the scene showed the wrecked bus and a few people strewn across a slope.

Ambulances were parked in a queue, and residents were observed assisting with rescue efforts.

According to the police, army, paramilitary, and police personnel were hurried to the scene.

There has been a noticeable increase in violence in the area since the attack. Relatively speaking, Reasi district has not experienced as many terrorist incidents as nearby Rajouri and Poonch.
