Prior to gaining prominence for his portrayal as Prahladcha in the web series Panchayat, Faisal Malik had small roles in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur and worked on a number of other web series. The actor is presently going popular for a throwback video in which he talks about his first encounter with Amitabh Bachchan and how he lost his job for telling the iconic actor the truth.
During an interview, Faisal recounted the occasion when he went to see Big B for a show with Anurag Kashyap. “I was a little thrilled to be meeting Bachchan sahab. I gave up on the task as soon as I saw him and gave him my copy in exchange for an autograph.
Praising Amitabh Bachchan’s hospitality, Faisal Malik said, “The food kept coming at Big B’s house. You wouldn’t be able to finish one dish before they present a new one. I told him I am from Allahabad and he talked to me. Then he asked if I would have til ke laddu (sesame laddus). I thought he wouldn’t be able to eat it because of his age. Sorry, I shouldn’t say this. But when the laddus arrived, he ate two before me. I thought he is lying about his age; he is still very much young.”
The narrator of the screenplay seemed overconfident during the reading, but Amitabh quickly called attention to a mistake on page 62. “He recalled every one of the script’s 120 pages. He pointed out the error without even consulting the script,” Faisal remarked.
After meeting Amitabh, Faisal revealed how he lost his job. “Big B asked me, ‘When do you think we should shoot this?'” Sincerely, I replied, “Sir, this shouldn’t be shot right now.” It would be best to film this after six months. You don’t work on this project,’ I was told when the meeting ended and we went downstairs. You should go from it, as I said the truth.”
You can watch Panchayat Season 3 online right now on Amazon Prime Video.
