As LokSabha Polls’ campaigning Conclude, PM Modi Turns to Meditation at Vivekananda Memorial for Reflection

Beginning his 45-hour meditation session at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari on Thursday was Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The PM prayed at the Bhagavathi Amman temple in Kanniyakumari after travelling from nearby Thiruvananthapuram earlier in the day. He is scheduled to conduct meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial for almost two days, starting from May 30 and ending on June 1.

He is going to meditate day and night at the Dhyan Mandapam, the same location where Swami Vivekanand had meditated.

Modi is probably going to the Thiruvalluvar statue, which is near to the memorial, before he leaves on June 1. The statue and memorial were erected on small islets, which are isolated rocky formations in the shape of mounds in the ocean.

Everything is set up for Modi’s 45-hour visit to the well-known memorial in the middle of the sea, which is named after a famous Hindu saint, including heightened security.

After the Lok Sabha election campaign comes to an end later today, Modi would meditate at the Rock Memorial, a Swami Vivekananda memorial here, BJP leaders had stated. After the 2019 election campaign, the Prime Minister conducted a similar activity at a cave in Kedarnath.

From Thursday evening to June 1st evening, Modi will be meditating at Dhyan Mandapam, the site of the purported divine vision of “Bharat Mata” that spiritual icon Vivekananda, whom Modi greatly admires, had.

In anticipation of Modi’s arrival, security has been stepped up, and 2000 police officers will be on duty. The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy will also be keeping a close eye on things.

PM Modi spent two days at the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand after the 2019 election campaign concluded, during which he engaged in a 15-hour “ekantavaas” (solitary meditation).
