The much-awaited action-thriller Kill has an official teaser now available. Dharma Productions released the more than minute-long video featuring Tanya Maniktala, Raghav Juyal, and Lakshya on its YouTube channel on Thursday. The film is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain.
The characters were shown setting out on a journey in the video’s opening shots from inside a train. But when a group of dacoits attacks the passengers, the situation gets serious. Bloodshed and fighting ensue as the characters of Lakshya and Raghav make every effort to save the passengers.
Reacting to the teaser, a fan wrote, “Wow, well-done work Lakshya. 100cr + loading for sure.” A comment read, “Not for the FAINT-HEARTED! Witness violence and gore like never seen before.” A person said, “Fabulous Action choreography, super hit, such movies are needed in Bollywood.” “Most Violent Indian film ever produced. Definitely blockbuster of the year,” commented another fan. Another person said, “Bollywood action films need a huge upgrade. I hope this will be the game-changer.”
The movie, which Nikhil Nagesh Bhat wrote and directed, opens in theatres on July 5. August 2023 saw the film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The feedback from moviegoers was positive. The only Indian film to be aired as part of the popular Midnight Madness program—a “iconoclastic programme highlighting the weird and the wicked”—was Kill.
Variety claims that Kill is a rare example of an extreme action movie in Indian film. The entire movie is set on an express train headed for New Delhi. It centres on two Indian army commandos named Amrit and Viresh, who are tasked with saving Amrit’s girlfriend Tulika. She does not want to be engaged to this other person.
When over 40 bandits—known as dacoits in India—who are part of an extended family board the train with the intention of robbing and kidnapping, things go wrong. It is Amrit and Viresh’s goal to keep Tulika and her family safe. Within the cramped quarters of the train, there’s visceral, gut-wrenching, and heart-pounding action, and the two must also deal with the insane bandit Fani.
