AAP Vs BJP Protests In Delhi As SC To Hear Plea Against Kejriwal’s Arrest

Delhi witnesses protest vs protest on the streets on Tuesday between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party, a day before Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear the plea against the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The AAP is holding protest against the arrest of the party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while, the BJP is protesting to demand his resignation.

During the protests, the Delhi Police arrested several leaders including AAP leader Somnath Bharti, Punjab education minister Harjot Bains and deputy speaker of Delhi assembly Rakhi Birla among others.

The Aam Aadmi Party called for a march from Patel Chowk Metro station to Prime Minister’s residence today to protest against the arrests of their supremo in alleged Delhi liquor policy.

Section 144 was in effect in the national capital and hence, those who gathered were detained, said the police.

“It is surprising that peaceful AAP protesters, including our female supporters, were detained from the station itself but there was no restriction on BJP’s protest in Delhi. This is not just a bias but murder of democracy in the country,” said AAP leader Somnath Bharti.

In the mean time, Delhi BJP supremo Virendra Sachdeva along with many other leaders were detained during their protest calling for Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation.
