Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday alleged BJP of “stealing a Thackeray” as the party has realized that only Thackeray name gets vote in the state. He gave this statement during his meeting with Raj Thackeray and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
This comes after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief reached Delhi ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Mr Uddhav Thackeray has also alleged that he had been “called”.
Addressing a public gathering in Nanded district, the former Chief Minister said that the BJP “knows very well that they don’t get votes in the name of PM Narendra Modi in Maharashtra…. People vote here in the name of (Bal) Thackeray”.
Referring to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde who is forming alliance with the BJP, Mr Thackeray said, “this realization prompted the BJP to try to steal leaders from outside. First, they stole the photo of Bal Thackeray, but it doesn’t matter”.
Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena was split after rebel Eknath Shinde with his faction claimed to be the legacy of party founder Bal Thackeray. Following which, Mr Shinde became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
