BJP And Leader Of Opposition Meet To Seek No-Trust Vote For Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Led Govt

In order to put the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government to the test in the state Assembly, the Leader of the Opposition and several BJP MLAs met with the governor of Himachal Pradesh this morning.

This occurs one day after the BJP’s nominee emerged victorious in the one and only Rajya Sabha seat. Cross-voting by Congress MLAs and a favourable lotteries resulted in the BJP’s victory.

“We have pulled off a victory when our chances seemed very low. BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan won the Rajya Sabha elections. Currently, the Congress government has lost the moral right to stay in power,” Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur said after meeting the Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.

When the BJP members went to talk with Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania after he forbade the division of votes on cut motions concerning the health department, Jairam Thakur claimed that the marshals misbehaved and physically abused them. “We have apprised the Governor about it,” he added.

The Budget Session is starting today, and there are rumours that the BJP would introduce a resolution of no confidence in the Assembly.

Mr. Thakur, who served as the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh till the BJP lost to the Congress in 2022, asked yesterday for a division of votes rather than a voice vote in order to pass the state budget.

The division of votes, if permitted, would reveal the true level of support for each party. If the Congress administration is unable to pass the budget, it will be evident that it does not have a majority in the House.

With 40 MLAs in the Assembly, the Congress was anticipated to win handily with their candidate, Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Six Congress MLAs and three pro-government Independents reportedly voted for Harsh Mahajan during the Tuesday polls for the one Rajya Sabha seat that was up for grabs.

Of the 68 members of the Assembly, the BJP has 25 members.

Additionally, Mr. Mahajan stated that there is no majority for the Congress administration in the House. “BJP is the revolutionary. People are dissatisfied with the government of Sukhu. Excellent leaders are flocking to the BJP. The state has given the Congress a smaller majority. This administration won’t be in place for very long,” he declared.
