Finance Minister Sitharaman To Present Interim Budget Today In Parliament, What Common Man Hopes?

The day has come when all eyes are on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who will present the Budget 2024 today in Parliament. Taxpayers are in hope for deductions in tax slabs and higher reductions.

Touching the record set by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, Ms Sitharaman will present her sixth budget. In 2020, she gave her longest ever Budget speech for straight 2 hours and 42 minutes.

This will be her Interim Budget as Lok Sabha elections are due in April-May this year. The newly elected government will present the full budget then.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his confidence that the full budget will be presented by the BJP-led newly elected government this year.

As per the experts it is said that the incumbent BJP led government and Ms Sitharaman will have to walk a fine line between pleasing the different sections of the society and keeping track of the fiscal deficit.

The expectation are very high from the big businessman to the common man, however major policy changes or big announcements are less likely to be made as it is an interim budget.

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are in hope of smooth regulatory procedures, greater access to loans and reduction in compliance burdens.

President Droupadi Murmu while delivering her address to a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday said that the central government is trying to fulfill the dreams if 140 crore Indians.

Meanwhile, the Opposition leader have alleged that the government had pre-planned an “election speech” for President Murmu and also of ignorance towards issues such as inflation, inequality and unemployment.
