Four accused including the prime accused have been arrested in the horrific case of two women from Kuki-Zomi community paraded naked and sexuallt assaulted in Manipur.
The incident took place on May 4 however, it has come to light two months later.
The prime accused Huiren Herodas Meitei and other three have been arrested over their involvement in the horrific incident.
The incident led to a nationwide outrage with people coming in solidarity for justice to the victims. The Opposition has demanded the BJP to address the situation in Manipur.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister after hearing about the incident termed the incident as “shameful” and said that women safety is on government’s priority.
The Supreme Court also expresses “deep concern” over the issue and said that the state and central government must address the issue and they don’t then the apex court will.
A disturbing video in which two women from Kuki-Zomi community were being paraded naked and sexually assaulted started doing rounds over the internet on Wednesday that further inflamed the situation in violence hit Manipur. At least 140 people have died in the ethnic violence in the state in last few months.
