In connection with the gruesome assassination of a woman in the Sawombung area of Manipur’s Imphal East district, nine persons, including five women, were detained on Sunday, according to the police.
On Saturday night, the woman’s body was discovered close to her home. She was in her mid-50s and had been shot in the face. Before escaping, her attackers had altered her visage.
The Manipur Police said on its official Twitter account that nine persons, including five women, had been detained in relation to the woman’s slaying in the Keibi Heikakmapal Maning Ching neighborhood.
According to the police, they recovered two firearms, five rounds of ammunition, and an automobile in connection with the incident.
The victim, who was thought to have mental health problems, belonged to the Maring Naga group, according to officials.
The police immediately set up a search perimeter and roped off the area where her body was discovered. In order to find the murderers and prosecute them, they also recorded witness testimony.
