Haryana Barrage Continues To Release Water Leading Yamuna To Flow Above Danger, CM To Take Stock Of Situation

The water in level in flowing Yamuna further raised last night that has prompted emergency measures as it is flooding roads and residential areas in Delhi NCR.

Currently, the water level in the river is 3 meters above the danger mark. At around 7 am today the water level in Yamuna was 207 46 meters as the Hathnikund barrage continue to release water into the river in Haryana.

When Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked centre to order to stop release of water into the river, centre denied because the excess water had to be released because there was no other choice.

The heavy rainfall has caused large scale destruction in the North India which is seen for the first time in last many decades. The barrage is filled due to continuous downpour and hence, the excessive water needs to be released.

The stretch connecting Majnu ka Tila with Kashmiri Gate ISBT has been closed and Ring Road in Civil Lines is flooded with the continuous downpour. They are very close to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.

Amid the huge waterlogging in the city, CM announced that all schools will remain closed. The rise in the water level has even led to the shut down of Wazirabad water treatment plant, in view of this Mr Kejriwal is likely to visit to take the stock of the situation there.

Urging people to stay away from the flooded zones, the Chief Minister told that the administration has already begun the evacuation operation.

“Saving lives most important. I appeal to all Delhiites to help each other in this emergency,” said Kejriwal taking to his Twitter handle.
