In order to gain strong backing NCP Chief Sharad Pawar after having a breakthrough from his nephew Ajit Pawar who defected the NCP to join Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra will go on a statewide tour starting from Nashik today.
In a bid to rebuild the party from ground up, the 82 year old leader will visit Nashil, Solapur, Pune and some constituencies of Dhananjag Mundem, Chagan Bhujbal and others.
Meanwhile, state Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis again met with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde last evening amid the reports that leaders from the state coalition government were unhappy with the entry of Ajit Pawar.
Ajit Pawar who is currently sharing Deputy Chief Minister post with Devendra Fadnavis had escalated tensions within the government after his remark that he “wants to be the Chief Minister”. However, there are no plans of Eknath Shinde to step down from the top post.
Soon after Ajit Pawar joined the coalition, Mr Fadnavis announced that the there will be a cabinet expansion in the ruling government. However, the party doesn’t engineer splits between the party but it welcomes who ever wants to join in, he further said.
