Around 25 people including three children lost their lives in a bus which caught fire on Samruddhi-Mahamarg expressway in Maharashtra early morning today. Eight others were injured also.
As per the officials, the bus was on its way to Pune carrying 33 passengers. The accident took place around 1.30 am in night.
The bus driver who survived, when questioned by the police said, “the bus hit the pole after a thre burst”. After hitting a pole the bus overturned and caught fire.
“25 people were burnt to death in the accident. The injured, including the bus driver, have been shifted to a hospital for treatment,” said, Superintendent of Police, Sunil Kadasane.
Mr Kadasane further said that, as of now the priority is to identify the bodies first and hand them over to their families, but a case has been filed and investigation will be carried out further.
Meanwhile, hearing about the tragic accident Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his grief and announced a compensation of ₹ 5 lakh to each family of the deceased.
