Bharti Airtel As Part Of Project Taara To Introduce Laser Internet Technology

In order to increase the number of Indians who have access to high-speed internet, Taara and Bharti Airtel, a provider of international communications solutions with operations in South Asia and Africa, have teamed. This partnership, according to Project Taara at X, seeks to close the digital divide and improve connection in both urban and rural areas.

The recent announcement of Airtel 5G Plus on the Kochi water metro route, India’s first water metro, demonstrates Airtel’s leadership in technological innovation. With a goal to reach every town and important rural area by September 2023, Airtel has already made its 5G service available in more than 3500 cities and towns across India as part of its 5G expansion ambitions.

The restrictions of cable-based infrastructure and the related expenses make it difficult to deploy 5G technology in all terrains and locales. Airtel and Taara have collaborated to install wireless optical communication cables in order to get beyond these obstacles and provide quick and affordable internet to more people.

Light beams are used in Taara’s wireless optical communication lines to provide high-speed and high-capacity connectivity across vast distances. Taara’s technology transmits data at up to 20 Gbps using light in a manner akin to conventional fibre optic connections. These tiny, undetectable light beams bind two Taara terminals together, forming a solid connection.

With a line of sight of up to 20 km, Taara’s high-speed, long-range technology uses wireless optical communication to send data at rates of up to 20 Gbps bidirectional throughput.

With the aid of this technology, network operators and service providers can quickly deploy and redeploy Taara links for a variety of purposes, such as extending fibre backhaul, increasing radio backhaul, boosting network resilience, negotiating treacherous terrain, establishing high-capacity backbone connections, and ensuring redundancy paths.
