Joe Biden And First Lady Jill Biden Host Private Dinner With PM Modi At White House

Today, US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House for a private meal. They were accompanied by Ajit Doval of India and Jake Sullivan, the US national security advisor.

At the Andrews Air Base in Washington, Prime Minister Modi was accorded a formal greeting and guard of honour. Both nations’ national anthems were played. “Reached Washington DC. The warmth of the Indian community and the blessings of Indra Devta made the arrival even more special,” the prime minister tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi was welcomed to the White House by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, who served a vegetarian dinner there and decked it with peacocks and lotus flowers.

The US President, the First Lady, and the Prime Minister reportedly took in a musical tribute to the many regions of India, according to the White House.

The prime minister will meet with various CEOs and business leaders later in the day. Sanjay Mehrotra, the CEO of Micron, has already been introduced to him. He will also be meeting Gary Dickerson, the CEO of Applied Materials, and H Lawrence Culp Jr., the CEO of GE, both of whom have been linked to Thursday’s major announcements.

At an earlier yoga session, Prime Minister Modi was joined by notables from the domains of science, art, and entertainment, as well as academics, technocrats, and political figures.

They included the mayor of New York, actor Richard Gere, singer Falguni Shah, three-time Grammy winner Ricky Kej, and different UN representatives.

The programme established a Guinness World Record for the largest group of individuals practising yoga simultaneously. Today, more than 114 different nations participated, breaking the previous record.

“Yoga free from copyright, patent, royalties… It is a way of life…Yoga is flexible, you can practice alone, in groups, learn from a teacher or self-taught… It is unifying, it is truly universal. It is for all ethnicities, faith and cultures,” Prime Minister Modi said in his address at the yoga event.

He will speak to a joint session of the US Congress in the evening. His second speech before a combined session will be a first for an Indian and a prestigious award.

Following a hearty greeting from Indian expats upon his arrival in New York yesterday, Prime Minister Modi met with a number of Nobel laureates, academicians, business titans, authors, mathematicians, and medical experts.
