Congress Presents Pre-Poll Manifesto In Karnataka, Women At Centre Of Promises

Congress party on Tuesday announced its pre-poll manifesto in Karanataka which mainly focuses upon women and youth. Top leaders including Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Party Chief Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Siddarnaiah were all present at the event.

In its manifesto, the party has proposed 200 units of free electricity to each household, ₹ 3,000 to all unemployed graduates for two years and ₹ 2,000 to all the female head of the family as part of Gruha Lakshmi project.

Congress even said that the party will stand firm to take actions against the organizations and individuals responsible for spreading hatred among different communities over religion and castes.

The manifesto also aims“to abolish corruption in public works and to create a transparent tender system in PWD, rural development, irrigation, urban development and power sector by enacting a special law to punish the perpetrators of corruption”.

The other key highlights of the manifesto include a promise of setting up of fund worth ₹ 2,000 crore to modernise all the courts in state. It further said that high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots will be set up in all the villages of Karnataka.

For improved life in villages the party said if it is voted to power then it will invest ₹ 50,000 crore for five years to provide clean drinking water, sanitation, health, basic education and better transportation facilities.

For agriculture, Krishi Sarvodaya Nidhi scheme has been proposed, which will allocate ₹ 1,50 lakh crore to modernize the agriculture, easy loan and subsidy.

At last for women which is the main focus, the grand old party has proposed an assistance to 5,000 women entrepreneurs each year.
