4th Test: PM Modi And Australia PM Albanese Wave Hands At Crowd As Teams Compete To Be World’s Best

Today, before witnessing a cricket match together, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese were greeted with raucous applause and cheers as they entered a stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Before the fourth Test match between India and Australia, the two Prime Ministers rode around the Narendra Modi stadium in a golf cart-made “chariot,” waving to the spectators.

“Australia and India are battling it out to be the greatest team in the world on the field. Off the field, we’re working together to create a better world, the Australian prime minister tweeted.

In addition to shaking hands with the teams, PM Modi and Mr. Albanese presented the Test caps to the respective team leaders, Rohit Sharma and Steve Smith. Additionally, they interacted with players on both teams and stood with them during the singing of the Australian and Indian national anthems.

The BCCI has given the two leaders framed artwork that symbolizes 75 years of friendship developed through cricket.

On Wednesday, the Australian prime minister arrived in Ahmedabad as part of a state tour to India.

“greeting to Ahmedabad, India, and what a greeting. The start of an important trip for relations between Australia and India,” the Australian prime minister tweeted soon after his arrival.

According to Mr. Albanese, his visit shows a commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations and to being a force for stability and development in our area.

Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, greeted Mr. Albanese and went to Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram with the Australian prime minister.

It will be wonderful to see the leaders of India and Australia on the first day of the matches in Ahmedabad, according to Australian High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell. “Cricket is one of the things that unites both countries,” he added.

The Border-Gavaskar rivalry is currently 2-1 in favor of India. The squad will face Australia in London starting on June 7 if they win the final Test to guarantee their place in the ICC World Test Championship final.
