Manish Sisodia Forced To Sign False Charges, Claims AAP

Manish Sisodia is allegedly being “mentally tortured” while in the detention of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), according to AAP national spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj, who also claimed that CBI agents are pressuring him to sign a “false confession”. “The CBI is torturing Manish Sisodia and pressuring him to sign papers carrying fabricated charges against him. The CBI has no proof that Sisodia is guilty. No missing evidence was ever stated. They searched his home but discovered nothing, according to Bhardwaj.

Sisodia, who has quit from the cabinet and as deputy chief minister, was produced before the court on Saturday on the expiry of his five-day CBI custody, claimed that he was “sitting for eight to nine hours and answering the same questions again and again” and termed it “mental harassment”.

According to Bhardwaj, the federal investigation agency “does not have evidence of dishonesty of even one rupee,” which is why pressure is put on him through torture to get him to confess to the wrongdoings.

Bhardwaj also accused the BJP-led government of “misusing” the investigative bodies under its purview to target opponents. In the past eight years, he asserted, there have been roughly “3000 raids” on opposition leaders, but only “0.5% of the accusations were proven,” he said. After writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Sisodia’s detention hours earlier, Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, and eight other opposition figures made their comments.

He said, “It is unfortunate that someone who labored for poor children and whose work is seen by the world is being subjected to mental torture by the CBI.

On February 26, Sisodia was detained for reportedly refusing to assist with the investigation into the Delhi Excise Policy Case and acting “evasively” when asked questions by investigators. On Saturday, a special CBI judge extended Sisodia’s custody until March 6.
